How It Works
How It Works
1. You start by meeting yourself right where you are. The first step is to center, ground, and pay attention to what's really going on.
2. Next, you create a sacred space for this moment. When you invoke sacred space, your consciousness shifts to a place of connection and wholeness, and you access a very deep source of power.
3. Part of creating sacred space is connecting your life to the larger circle of life on the planet. You remember that your body is part of the earth. You remember that the earth is part of you.
4. Creativity is next, and where the transformation begins. This is where you connect to the power of your voice and the deepest truths of your soul.
My approach to writing is safe, gentle and strong. It will meet you where you are, remind you of what you’ve always known, and take you places you’ve never been before. You'll be surprised and delighted by how easily you can write in a group, even if you’ve never written before.
5.Throughout this process, the wisdom of your body is cultivated. In this way, your whole being feels included and starts to come alive. Writing becomes a very holistic experience that can be a catalyst for transforming your whole life.
6. Finally, after the writing exercise, you come back to sacred space. You start to see how what you’ve written fits in to the prayer of your whole life. You examine your life with the perspective you now have, after having written.
My workshops use the Amherst Writers and Artists method, as described by Pat Schneider's The Writer as an Artist: A New Approach to Writing Alone & With Others. I've adapted her work to include more focus on the spiritual and healing aspects of writing.
